Exclusive First Editions
The company originated in America in 1833, when Henry Carlisle began manufacturing vanity products from horn, ivory and tortoise shells. At that time, the company was mainly engaged in the production of high-backed Spanish combs for the ladies in the southern states. In 1899, the company merged with that of Henry G. Bachmann, a German immigrant who, along with his son, ran a similar business, and the company was named Bachmann Bros.
After many successful years making a number of different products, Bachmann entered the model train market in the late 1960s to try to capitalise on the increase in railway modelling.
Since the mid-1990s, Bachmann Europe has continued to grow with the addition of the Scenecraft range of buildings, figures and accessories in 2008. This was followed in 2016 by the acquisition of Exclusive First Editions.
