Wiking-Modellbau GmbH & Co. KG is one of the oldest and best-known manufacturers of plastic model vehicles - mainly in 1:87 scale, the H0 size of model trains. The company has been part of the Sieper Group since 1984.
Friedrich Karl Peltzer had the business idea of casting model ships in moulds as early as 1930. At first, this is just a sideline activity, as he is actually the publisher of the magazine "Das Tier". Professional model making then begins in 1932. Shortly afterwards, Peltzer sells his magazine and book publishing business to concentrate on his model making. Friedrich Karl Peltzer's hobby turns into a profession and Wiking-Modellbau starts producing his first model ships in the self-selected 1:1250 scale from his first moulds.
